Gomatagiri is a holy place where a beautiful statue of Gomateshwara carved 900 years back is situated. It is around 20 kms from Mysore. The  Gomateshwara statue is on a small rocky hill and hence the name 'gomatagiri'. In kannada, 'giri' means 'hill'.

This place is calm and quite. The breeze coming at the top is refreshing even if you go in hot sun.

The height of the statue is 5 metres, carved in a single stone. Maha mastakabhisheka is
being held every september.
