       It is a historical place with many visiting places which is around 20 km from Heritage city Mysore. The town of Srirangapatna was once the fortress capital of the region controlled by Hyder Ali and his son Tipu Sultan. Located in Mandya District.

 

      

Sri Ranganatha swami temple

is of Lord Vishnu in the sleeping posture on the great snake Anantha is a temple which attracts number of devotees as well as tourists throughout the year.

       There is a place where Tippu sultan had died.


         Daria Daulat Bhag, the summer palace of Tippu sultan is a place to be visited. Museum dedicated to Tippu sultan is there which has many paintings which depict depict the  victories and Struggles of Tipu Sultan. The whole structure is made of teak.Garden in front of the Daria Daulat is calm and green to sit and pass the time.  Timings of museum 9am to 5pm.


        Sangama is a place where Kaveri and Lokapavani rivers meet. This place is famous for holy dip.

        Gumbaz is Mausoleum of Tippu Sultan, and his father Hyder Ali and mother Fathima Begam. The Gumbaz, an imposing structure in the midst of the Lalbagh garden, stands on a high and wide platform with an open verandah of polished pillars all round.

        Colonel Bailey’s Dungeon, here prisoners were chained to stone slabs fixed on its walls.

 Ghosai ghat is another place in the bank of river kaveri. Here people will be less compared to Sangama and hence will be cleaner than Sangama. People can swim if they are confident enough. but the current will be high in monsoon.

         Nimishamba Temple is an ancient temple on the banks of river Kaveri. It is believed that the goddess Parvati here blesses her devotees every 'nimisha,' meaning 'every minute.' You can have coracle ride for a reasonable price. By crossing the river, you can trek to Karighatta.

    

     You can visit Ranganatittu bird sanctury and Karighatta which are nearby.

        Food and accomodations are availabla at srirangapatna.

     All the places are within 4 km radius from the Srirangapatna town and you can find sign boards wherever requiered.

 

You can hire auto or taxi. Bargaining is recommended.
